About Us

Kathy Nicholson is an energy engineering professional with over 30 years of experience helping businesses and homeowners produce and use clean energy efficiently and cost effectively.  As an independent energy consultant and Principal of Nicholson Energy Consulting LLC, she specializes in electrification and solar microgrid design for residential and small commercial operations.

Before forming Nicholson Energy Consulting, Kathy was a Consulting Engineer and Project Manager at Southern California Edison where she helped hundreds of commercial and industrial customers electrify and improve the efficiency, cost effectiveness, and profitability of their operations.  She also led customer projects to demonstrate emerging, efficient, electric technologies as alternatives to fossil fuel technologies.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an Energy Emphasis.  She is a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional® and a proficient user of Aurora Solar design software.  Over the course of her career, Kathy has helped over 500 residential, commercial, and industrial clients with their clean energy projects.  Her greatest passion is empowering people with accurate, current information so they can join the clean energy revolution in the best way possible for themselves financially.
